Program: Come join Poul Palmer, a local garlic grower, as he shares some facts about garlic. Discover the many different varieties and forms. Learn how to grow and store garlic.
Then, Thetis Sammons, will talk about the use of Azomite in the home garden and growing vegetables sustainably.
Our Speakers:
Poul Palmer, lives in Los Olivos and has been a garlic grower for over 7 years, growing many varieties of garlic as well as other vegetables which he sells at his stand in Los Olivos, and to local restaurants.
Thetis Sammons has been farming organically and creating mixed use landscapes for 35 years.
During the last two years some of the local restaurants served some of Thetis's delicious heirloom tomatoes and other specialty vegetables.
Thetis is strong advocate for sustainable growing and building soil fertility for better food nutrition and plant health.
She is the Western Region director for Azomite Trace Minerals and works with farmers, ranchers, universities and nurseries to improve growing programs and advance progressive education in agriculture.
Additionally, Thetis currently travels the country promoting and screening the documentary, Food Fight, by Chris Taylor to encourage and build activism for the country's agriculture, food and health care issues.
